Can't believe I am actually here!!

I guess  I should start with the flight. LAN airlines is great!! If you fly to South America LAN is definitely who you should fly with. I ate well, slept comfortably(exit row had 3 and a half feet of space, watched great movies (Hangover and Mechanic) and the service was great. With that said they gave me some juice/nectar that tasted like heaven, I will search for it here. I slept in the airport in Lima(tile floors and very cold) because my flight didn't leave for Cuzco until 7am(7 hr layover). I got a window seat for the Lima/Cuzco flight and the Andes are unlike anything I have ever seen, beautiful in the morning light. When I arrived in Cuzco my backpack that I checked was missing my sleeping pad, bummer but not to bad. It is fairly cold here and it is getting dark at 5:15 already, very different from Key West. This city has 350,000 people in it and sit at 11,000 ft above sea level. It's location is crazy, it is in a very high valley with peaks that completely surround it like a giant brown crown. Only the surrounding highest peaks have snow on them. My host family is great but I really should have worked a lot harder on my spanish because they speak absolutely no english and the communication is rough. Their names are Juan and Correna and they have 2 grown duaghters who live elsewhere in Peru. The food is very good and the drinks we have with the meals are sweet and come hot or cold, my sweet tooth is gonna love this place! I went for a long walk and short bus ride with Juan a couple of hours ago and he helped me to get a little orientated. I thought I might get winded from the elevation but I have 0 effects so far. We went by a huge market that takes place every weekend and I can't wait to go back and try all the grub, yeppers!Cuzco is not near as developed as I thought it would be but I am actually very happy about that. It almost looks war torn but there has been no war here in a long time. I do not have internet at the house but there are plenty of internet shops all around us. I went to get on Rosetta stone but my headset broke on the trip so now I have to track down a new one:-(  I go to the Volunteering Solutions office on Monday to go through orientation and then it starts, yeah. They will also give us a tour of the city, maps and lots of info on how to get around. I almost forgot to say that it is Election weekend and it is a touch crazy in the anticipation of a new President. Take care all, pictures will come when in a blog or two.
